The Met Office admits it got it wrong.
Jul. 29th, 2009 01:51 pm While driving 6 miles for a gallon of milk (the nearest shop is only half a mile away but the parking in Abercarn is non existent)I caught the news and Weather on Classic FM. At the beginning of summer the Meteorological Office gave a long distant forcast that mentioned record temperature, blue skies and drought. so far the only thing it got right was the record temperatures but not quite in the way it meant. It has been the coldest summer I can remember in a very long time. Today they have given in and admitted they were wrong and it is going to rain like it has in July in August too. If it wasn't raining so hard I would be at the local supermarket stocking up on sun blocker and after sun cream because when the met is right it is averagely right but when it is wrong ooh boy it is wrong. And having been so wrong once this year I will nmot believe another word they say.
Incidentally I went out in the gear I usually reserve for dog walking in the middle of winter, a waterproof riding coat, trousers tucked into boots and a peaked cap to keep the hood out of my eyes. I should have worn wellies and waterproof trousers, my boots feet and lower trouser legs are sodden. And that is just running from home to the car,car to shop and back again both ways, 30 yards at most.
