Lone Pine Lodge

 AS you all might know by this time there is a volcano exploding in Iceland that has blasted a huge plume of debris in to the high atmosphere which is making its way over the UK.  As a result of this all but emergency flights have been grounded in the UK.  This flight ban is slightly stronger than that in the USA after 9/11 since our military and police air craft are included in the ban.  I didn't think we would even notice this in my village as   the only planes that fly over us have reached cruising height and we rarely see a helicopter, only if we are at risk of forrest fires or there are dangerous criminals abroad.

I was wrong, it is so quiet out there the birds sound as if they are amplified.  We have got so used to background almost subliminal air craft noise that we no longer notice it until it isn't there.  I am also noticing that it is colder tonight than last night.  It might just be the weather would have been colder any way but I know the lack of pollution from jet engines can cause a drop in temperature.  Isn't life strange.
