I find this computer I'm on very irritating this year. Some time last year, well after my last animal sitting stint, this computer crashed, blue screen totally dead.

My friends took it to a repair shop and they got it working again but certain things are missing. The thing I find irritating is that one of the things that is missing is all the word processing programs.

When I'm working on memes I like to copy and paste to word and then back to lj. I do this mainly because I can't type accurately and think of something else at the same time and spell check at least alerts me to multiple letters/missing letters even if it can't tell me when I've missed words out completely.

So can any one tell me of a site where I can download free word processing programs suitable for a computer running on Windows XP? Please before I lose it and take a pickaxe to its main processor.

Does your XP have Notepad? That's what I usually use for copy-pasting stuff. It'd be bizarre if that had disappeared...

Bum.

For good software, I usually check www.tucows.com. They've got reviews of programs and give you lots of useful details about their functions. I'm still surprised Word is gone if it was there to begin with--I suppose it never came with a software disc? Or if you had a licence for Word anywhere that'd allow you to download it again off Microsoft's site?

Anyhow, good luck on Tucows, if there's good software out there it'll be on that site.

XP is a total arse in a way they don't usually give discs for the software, though, so Microsoft might need extensive serial numbers and other proof of purchase to give you Word. I don't *think* it comes with XP, even though it's bundled together with it often, but it's worth a try.

Its totally freeware, handles anything and everything and is pretty much like using Microsoft Office.

Stick it into Google ...

The family decided against it, so I haven't downloaded.
