OK now I'm missing the cousins
Jul. 1st, 2006 11:48 amBeth and Jill are away on holiday, they are doing the Rockies and a cruise up the west coast of Canada to Alaska. I envy them the holiday but I'm glad I'm not with them as they are also in the company of their niece and her two children. And I know who would be on baby sitting duty if I were there. I haven't missed them until today, in fact I've been rather glad they are away. Part of my house sitting duties for them, they live just round the corner from me, is videoing the Sky series they watch which means I have a valid excuse to stay there after picking up the mail and watch some thing other than sport. Last week it was World Cup and Ascot, this week it's World Cup and Wimbledon. Terrestrial TV thinks everyone is sport mad. So why am I now missing my cousins? Well for the last 20 years Beth has been taking me with them when they go supermarket shopping, or for the last 2 years I've been borrowing the car. Today was shopping day, Beth is in Canada and the car is at Heathrow and for the first time in nearly two decades I've had to shop by public transport. Gods it's awful, I'll have to get a shopping trolley for the next time this happens. Carrying 4 pints of milk plus a bag full of other goodies on and off buses and more especially up my hill is killing.
