Having spent all of yesterday evening and most of the night alternately shivering and sweating I staggered down stairs at 9.am after about 2 hours sleep and phoned in sick. Then I went back to bed and back to sleep for the morning. I woke up at mid day and after eating a very late breakfast I'm feeling fine but having said I wouldn't be in for the rest of the week I think I will have at least tomorrow.

This means I have had the time and inclination to browse Amazon and spend money. I haven't bought B7 season 4 yet, I'm waiting for the price to fall a bit more but I have indulged in both Firefly the complete first ( and only?)season and Serenity. I hope they arrive before the end of the week so I can take them on the first of my two annual animal sitting stints.

I am down to the cat and the rabbit only as all the hamsters and fish all died off over winter. When I went down a couple of weeks ago there were also a few hundred tadpoles in the old fish tank but I'm hoping they will have grown legs and been put out in the pond by Saturday.

I can't call the family Luddites anymore as Laura, my 15 year old God daughter finally nagged them into going on line back last year so I will be able to keep up with the everyone in the comfort of someonelses home.

Thanks, I feel a different person today than the person I was Monday and Tuesday. I think last night was the last fling of a sneaky virus, it just makes you feel blah with out obvious symptoms.

Helas, not only is there no Firefly S2 there isn't even a complete S1--there are only 14 episodes although at least the pilot is a double episode. On June 23, there are going to be worldwide big-screen showings of Serenity to benefit Equality Now (it's Joss Whedon's favorite charity, and it's his birthday) so there may be one near you. Seeing it on the big screen, and seeing it in a theater full of insanely dedicated fans*, are both pluses if there's a convenient screening.

*Browncoats: the fans other fans are afraid of!

Yes, but to us 13 episodes is a long season - I don't really like these American seasons that go on and on until you've forgotten what happened at the start.

[To Linda] Sorry to hear you were so bad last night, and hope the fineness continues unalloyed.

Fineness is continuing and getting better every minute.

replying to kalypso_v: I suppose from the POV of the ordinary telly-watcher you're making sense, but to the obsessed fan....

But as a fan I find it easier to absorb the self-contained; I can just about remember the names of 52 episodes of Blake's 7, whereas with, say, Babylon 5 I just think "um, well, that episode title that's one of 110 variations on Light/Fire/Shadow". With Star Trek, there are probably fewer than a handful of episodes I can name, and a few more where I think "well, Duet is definitely Deep Space Nine, but is it one of the ones about Kira and some Cardassian or other or the one about Sisko and Dukat?" All of which makes it very difficult for me to engage in discussion of said programmes, however much I enjoyed them.

I'll keep my eyes open and if it does I'll twist cousin Beth's arm to come with me, I need her car to get to a cinema as there aren't any near me.

Yay, internet and cats, two very good things!

Yes, there was only one season of Firefly. Watch it before the film, which IMO doesn't quite match it in plot and feel.

Hope you feel better soon.

I'm hoping they will arrive before I leave on Saturday so I can take them with me.

I am now blocked up and sneezing but since that is par for the course for tree pollen time I don't know if it's part of the virus.
