The new modem works! I am back on line although I think I will need to find some money from somewhere for a better computer soon. My poor little fossil is taking for ever to do anything even though I am on broadband.

Have you thought of a second-hand one, or a laptop? I know people who got good used laptops from the NZ equivalent of eBay.

I have thought of a second hand one but over here they cost about as much as the new one I could buy from my PC doctor. He builds them himself ans they are cheap because he uses Pentium substitute so I may give one of those a go. Then again I may soldier on until my endowment policy matures and splash out on a new named computer, I do have only a year to go.

They both sound good options. :-)

Yay!:)

Wonderful:).

Hm... off-topic, but would you really, really be able to take Noki for a month or two at least until I find a flat and a flatmate or something in/near Bath? She needs to be kept indoors at all times and hates leashes:(. I love my cat so, so much and can't BEAR the thought of living in England without her.

I'm just off to find out how much the vaccinations and all other nasty things cost to get her a pet passport--it's going to be bloody expensive, but worth it!

I would be terribly offended if she didn't come to me if only for a few months.%) Seriously, I would not have offered if I didn't mean it, she is an indoor cat and can remain that way with me and she is welcome for as long as is necessary. You are also welcome to come and stay for a weekend or a week or two when ever you like while she is with me and even when you have a place of your own.

You would also be welcome for longer in the term breaks if the flat or what ever is the type of student let I was used to nearly 40 years ago which was for term time only.

My only worry is that she will get lonely as work keeps me out of the house for about 11 hours a day, but I think I have a solution to that in the younger son of my cousin two doors down. For a bit of a bribe he could be induced to do his homework at my house after school, and if his mother is involved bribery wouldn't be needed, she would make him do it for family for free.

Just give me a couple of weeks warning so I can make the house presentable.

I HOPE to be able to be in the UK by late August or early February. Definitely before the 11th of Feb. You have been duly warned!:D

And yeah, the big cat does love company and lots and lots of scritches and cuddles. Hope the kid and you can do so:)!

OK I'll start making the house reputable for the August date and try to keep it that way. The problem with living alone in a multi-roomed dwelling is that there are rooms you can shove thongs into and close the doors and forget about them, the spare bedroom is one of those places. You would be lucky to find the bed let alone sleep in it the way it is at the moment.

Spellcheck comes up trumps again. I do not have a room full to bursting with thongs that was a typo for things. One of these days I must learn to type properly
