Snow Warning

Because my cousin's car was in for its pre-MOT service we were unable to do our usual bi-weekly shop on Saturday. It was back today so we headed for Asda to shop. The UK has had a severe weather warning, snow on high ground, this week, but back to normal by the weekend. We are supposed to have a bit, few inches maybe even a few feet, tomorrow. Nothing to get worried about. Then why has Asda been decimated? Am I totally old fashioned in keeping a store cupboard of dry goods and a good freezer full of frozen veggies,fruit and meat? There was nothing left, no potatoes, onions or greens, no bread and no milk. The staff I spoke to said that people had been descended on the store like the locusts in the Egyptian plague, they had nothing left by mid afternoon. I bet a lot of what was bought will end up in the rubbish bin by next week.

Same here. I blame the media. Hyping it up out of all proportion. Everyone's jumpy, expecting the next Ice Age. Still no snow here in the frozen north.

Yep those essentials are always in my store cupboard too, but not for very long.

I take it all back - it's snowing now, and sticking already. Hey - I might not be able to get to work (with luck). Worse case scenario: I get to work but can't get home.

Worse case scenario for me - I'll be snow bound tomorrow (day off lots of things to do out of the house) and it will be all over by Thursday and have to go back to work. A couple of inches of frozen snow left on Thursday would do, I live half way up a one in four looong hill which is not a main road so we won't be gritted, I can't get to work if we have a very heavy frost on a wet road.
