Well at least I tried
Jan. 16th, 2006 04:02 pmA week ago I went back to work, having been promised that I would be posted somewhere where I did not have to stand all day. I do know better than to believe management but hope springs eternal.
My timetable for that week was
Maindee (a branch you have to stand all day at)
Ringland (bored out of my mind but at least sat down)
Maindee
Maindee
Ringland
Now the reverse would have been easing me back in but it has backfired my poor right knee is now slightly worse than it was when I first went off work in November.
As well as an all over painful knee I now have swelling down my shin bone and a stabbing pain in the inside of my knee when I put any weight on it after being sat for any length of time and I have to make sure I take all my weight on my better left knee when I get up first thing or my knee just gives and I end up on the floor. So now I have to recover the ground lost and then and recover further to be able to get back to work again. At this rate the silver lining will be that I will have missed the worst of the winter when I do eventually get back to work.
Of course, it being a Monday morning no appointments possible at the doctor's but apart from referring me to a specialist I can't see that there is anything more he can do for me, except give me a sick note.
The time I had at Ringland did give me a chance to research knee pain on the Net. The closest I came to my symptoms was something called Osgood-Schlatter Disease. But it can't be that because it only seems to occur in Teenage athletes. Ah well it's nice to think I still have something young about me
