Yesterday was my first day back at work for seven weeks, it was only a half day and I was working with someone who was agreeable to doing any of the walking necessary so I survived it.

Today I am working at a branch where two people in the library at one time is considered a rush and it is possible to sit down and work so I should survive in spite of the 7.00pm finish. So far we have had seven people through the door ( annual stats being taken this week of visitors, CIPFA to any public librarians out there) and that included counting the glazier twice. And these all came in between 9.00 and 10.00. It is now 10.45 and I suppose I should go and look for some work to do. There are some books to process, that should kill half an hour.

I'm bored, I can't even get creative with displays as this branch is closing for major renovation in a couple of weeks. I should have brought my knitting.

Take it easy. At least you're being eased back into work gently (if boringly).

Or you could try (reading a book) researching your stock for a while.

What are you knitting?

Unfortunately that branch is the bottom of the pecking order for books and I've researched most of the stock there at other branches already.

At the moment I'm knitting a guernsey in a very deep purple double knit but over the time I've been off Ive managed to knit two cardigans, one in pale blue chunky and one in grey/white/silver pure mohair a green mohair and a coffe and cream mohair jumper. The cardies are for me the jumpers turned into Christmas presents.

And no I haven't gone demented giving away expensive mohair, the wool came to me via my cousins (who got the pressies) from a rich relative of theirs who has had to give up knitting because of arthritis in her hands, since I got enough mohair for a cardie and a jumper for me when I get round to knitting it I thought I would say thanks by knitting them something. I have enough of other types of wool to knit at lease 6 more garments and a chenille scarf so I won't go begging.

I wouldn't have accepted the mohair in the first place, let alone give it away. I can't stand fluffy yarn, it gets up my nose and makes me sneeze. I prefer patterned ganseys, but the family wear fleeces now so I'm reduced to blankets for charities.

Though I did do an ear flap hat for youngest before christmas.

This is the first time I've used mohair with such a high content of real mohair 85% mohair 10% wool and 5% synthetic and I found it a lot less fluffy than the 50/50 I had used before. It didn't tickle the way the other stuff did. Weird or what?
