I've just staggered back from our local shopping village and collapsed in front of the computer. I am exhausted and I've only been out about half an hour, this ear infection is really pulling me down

We haven't had a shop in our village since the 80s rural decay started here then. The village shop decided it couldn't survive without an offy ( take away alcohol section for any non brits reading this)and then discovered their lease forbade the sale of alcoholic beverages so it closed.

Lady Llanover has a lot to answer for. If you want further information about this statement look at

I loved your story of your home village; Lady Llanover was a wonderful character. Why was she Lady Llanover before her marriage though? Was she from one of those enlightened families who can inherit the title through the female line too?

BTW I'm flattered you have a link to my site there, but it doesn't work because you've omitted the www part of the URL. It's http://www.farsight.net.nz

She wasn't I just couldn't remember her name when I wrote that, I must look it up and correct it.

Her husband received the title for services to the state as the man in charge of building the Houses of Parliament

Thanks for the heads up about the URL I'll fix that at once
