Old age has caught up on me

I have been feeling very old for the last month. For years I have been having difficulty hearing clearly in a noisy environment for example a full restaurant. It has been getting steadily worse and 6 weeks ago I gave in and made an appointment to have my hearing tested. It turned out that my left ear is very good for my age but my right ear is very bad, I now have a hearing aid and that makes me feel very old but also very glad that I got it, I didn't realise just how much I wasn't hearing until I could hear it again. I swear the birds have all bought amplifiers their song is so loud.
Saffron Kandi and I took a walk along the canal Saturday and since I only had the two of them to keep and eye on I took my camera. The ducks have mostly all appeared up but there is still the odd female being harassed by several unlucky males. The dogs ignore the ducks quietly swimming along but these noisy groups make their ears stand up and they take very close notice. Saffron loves it when the poor female takes flight to try and shake the males and the males follow quacking noisily. Saffron races after them barking excitedly followed by Kandi who has no idea why Saffy is running but just loves to chase.
Talking of ducks pairing up, This lad must be something special

Every time we have walked the canal since mid February this boy has had up to four females training behind him. After a week or two it was down to 2 and he still has them both. He much be a ferocious fighter to have kept the other males away.
The girls were fascinated byt this pair as they were so still.

And this is why

Sound asleep in the summer level of sun and warmth we have had here for the past three and still have today.
