How's your Math
Dec. 17th, 2004 07:21 pmHaving entered my second half century I have always assumed that I was bad at Math,it just wasn't my thing and that everybody that was 'bad at math' was bad in the same way I am. Thanks to Snowgrouse who asked if there was a mathematical equivalent of Dyslexia as she thought she suffered from it and listed her problems and a friend of hers who knew the answers I have discovered that she, and I, suffer from discalculia.
Go to www.discaculia.org and see if you match up, it's me to a T.
It's good to know I'm not stupid, one of the words used by a Math teacher for me when I went to Grammar school. Thankfully she only took us for a year, my first year unfortunately and she managed to destroy what little confidence I had in that subject. My next math teacher , Mr Axford, spent the next 4 years building me back up again and got me through Maths O level. I really was blessed with some marvelous teachers between 11 and 15.
