The DVLA isn't very trusting

That's the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority to you folks not in the UK. Every year we have to pay a sum of money to the government to be allowed to drive on the public roads. I usually pay annually in June right in the middle of my car insurance year. This year I was more than a little broke so only paid for the half year which means my Tax disc expired the same time as my insurance 31/10. I went on to line to renew my tax on the 26th of this month and was told I couldn't do it as I did not have any insurance for the next year. I have had to wait until today when my insurance was renewed before I could renew it. Luckily we are given 5 days grace driving on an expired disc before prosecution is a possibility and the disc should arrive with in 5 days or I would be stuck with out a car. Now I have never been without insurance since I got a car and the DVLA know that but they wouldn't trust me to renew my insurance at the same time I was renewing my tax. Ah well, I've managed it now and all I have to do is keep my fingers crossed that the Postal Dispute doesn't delay the Disc. I've only had that car for 3 years but I don't know how I would cope with out it. I have taken a 6 month disc again so that I will be back in the middle of my insurance year again, i couldn't stand the strain of this again.%D
