My sat nav decided to take me the pretty route over a moorland whose name I can say but can't write , phonetically it is Llangunadeer Moor and along the edges of the Brecon Beacons National park on the A40. At the top of the moor I looked down on this scene and decided to share it with you. Click and enlarge for the best view of morning mist in the Welsh mountains.

I hadn't realised at first that it was mist in the valley, I thought it was an estuary. It doesn't look pleasant to drive through.

By the time I got down to it the sun had burned most of it away and I had perfect vision. Welsh weather is weird.

Isn't it just, I'm very glad I found a place to pull of the road and take the photo, me and 6 others.

I've seen it before in my own valley but never when I have had a camera with me or the vehicle to get me up out of the fog in time to take a camera with me. I was one of half a dozen cars that had stopped to take picturesa.

The fairie folk aren't called the little people of the hills for nothing, that's where they live in the mountains and valleys of Wales , Scotland and Ireland, and the bits of England no body else wanted.

Well if you manage to get over here any time you will always have a bed waiting and your own private guide and chauffeur.

I had though about packing it in my suitcase in the boot. Thankfully I didn't, no one would have believed a description.

That's so beautiful. The clouds are so thin in the sky yet the mist is so thick in the valley that it looks like a river of ice.

It happens quite frequently in the valleys here about 2 or 3 times a year, but I've never had a good camera in my hands when I've seen it before. I've no idea what specific weather conditions are needed but it always happens in high pressure autumn weather, it probably needs warm days and very cold nights.
