I'm back with a thumb swathed in dressings and anti-biotics, I was asked if I had a tetanus shot with in the last ten years, which I have, and the nurse washed the punctures again and got a doctor to write me a prescription which was filled at the A&E pharmacy. For those living in Rabies areas who might be worried about what would happen to Pip, the UK is still rabies free in spite of a slight relaxation in the quarantine laws for animals brought in from abroad. We will now accept a vets certificate that the animal is up to date with his anti Rabies shots and not insist on 6 months quarantine. So since I was the idiot trying to intervene physically in a cat fight all that will happen to him is a bit more scritching tonight and the gingers got a bit more food and cuddles this afternoon. All three of them are in but the gingers are shut in the kitchen and Pipin is here with me in the living room sleeping on Daddies chair. They will not be allowed to mix again if I can avoid it, Pip swore at Gismo in the garden this afternoon but I think that was just habit, he didn't actually mean any thing.

I feel a little embarrassed as I think I was seen ahead of people who were there when I arrived and was in and out and home in about an hour. Being diabetic does have an advantage it seems.

It's nice to know that people worry, it gives me a warm tingly feeling. The antibiotics are working well the ache in my hand has already retreated from all over to just thumb and index finger. And this is a lesson I will not forget, Pips might be a big softy but he is a cat and cats can be vicious when roused. Next time I'm heading for a bucket of water.

I'm very glad the medicine is already helping.

If the cats get into another fight, just make sure you're not in range! :^)

I was told, 36 to 48 hours for the anti-biotics to cick in but I think the first one I took last night has worked a little already. The ache has retreated from my middle finger to juat my thumb and index fingers. I should be fine in a week.

I appear to be healing remakably quickly, the ache is reatreating finger by finger, it had reached my ring finger last night but its back to index finger and thumb already.

Very glad you had it seen to promptly and that the kitties are peaceful again.

We once had two cats who hated each other and continued to do so for the sixteen years they lived together--so they lived in separate rooms with equal time spent with us each day.

I think that is likley to be the case here. The gingers were not loved all that much once they grew out of kitten hood and could have been a bit mistreated, one of the children of the first family has behavioural problems due to mild brain damage. Although they are perfectly safe in here, providing Pipsqueak is not in a foul mood,Gismo is much happier spending the night outside even in the weather we had last night. He is a cat of very little brain but lots of love, Cos has decided already that in spite of Pip inside is best and you can't shift her from the Kitchen with out using brute force. Even on the night of the fight all she did was retreat to the top of the kitchen cupboards for a while when I let her back in around midnight.

Poor kitties! We adopted a cat who had been declawed and then left to fend for herself outside. (She's the one in my userpic.)
After a long time she finally trusted that we weren't going to do something else to her and would sit on laps for a short while, but she remained skittish all of her life.

Some people don't have the sense god gave a mentally deficient earthworm. Cos will stand and let you pet her for hours but she is very unhappy about being picked up and jumps off laps as soon as you let her go so I don't pick her up, I just sit on the bench outside and bend over to her. Gismo is also not happy about being picked up an swears mightly but once you are sat with him on your lap he's happy to stay there until he has had enough scritiching. so we live in hope that one day all three will live together with out fighting and have happy lives.

If they have been together for a long while and are still like that then it's not likely to change. As they are not your cats I doubt that there is anything you can do to change the situation either, though you could try bribery and patience, just keep a water pistol handy too.

Hope it heals up quickly, it certainly sounds like Pipin is trying to make up for it.

Rereading your first post on cat sitting Cosmo is a relatively new addition.

Next time their is an "encounter" stamp in front of Pipin or by his head and say firmly "No" (or use water pistol if they've got somewhere you can't reach, or if you are worried about him biting again).
Actually if you can get Pipin to heed "No" you can head him off when he is only "thinking" about jumping her.

That and big ear scritches and rewards for when they are together and NOT fighting. Keep up until they get the message "fighting is a no-no!" and "good behaviour together will be rewarded".

They've known each other all the gingers lives but only moved in together about a month ago when the gingers owners, Janets next door neighbours, moved abroad and were going to have them put down. A lifetime of being interlopers in an other cat's territory is going to be hard to break for both sides.

More like Daft Linda, I do know that an enraged cat will turn on any one that tries to get it away from its enemy. I just forgot in the heat of the battle.
