I'm driving Fred Flintstone's car
Jul. 25th, 2008 11:25 amMy lovely little Saxo is in for her MOT and I've been given a courtesy car. It's a Citroen AX and it is primitive to put it mildly. It reminds me of the one and only time I drove the family car, a Ford Anglia, way back when I tried to learn to drive the first time in 1972. This one has the acceleration of a dead slug, she makes Beth's old Astra, which I described as having the acceleration of an arthritic snail going up hill, feel like a cutting edge top of the line sports model. I may be maligning the AX as this is a courtesy car and probably has been driven into the ground by a wide variety of drivers but I am glad she is going back this afternoon. She looks like this, http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d6/Citroen_AX_front_20070326.jpg/800px-Citroen_AX_front_20070326.jpg, but in dark green with Bijou Cars plastered all over.
She passed but not quite qith flying colours. Nothing had to be done to her this time but the mechanic said she would need two new rear tires and new brake pads before next year. Ah well I knew car owning wasn't going to be cheap but £53 just for the MOT seems extortionate.
