I like that. Dysfunctional? No, I don't believe it.
btw, I read in the paper about libraries withdrawing the children's books by an author who has gone to prison for paedophilia charges. Wondered... what do you make of that? If the books were worth reading before... Well. I don't know if they should withdraw them.

I sat my Library degree at the time when Enid Blyton was anathema. There was a question on my children's paper that basicly said discuss this. My answer was a very frim 'WTF are these wierdos on about'. Any book that keeps children reading is a good book. Providing the book does not encourage paedophillia and has nothing in it I would not want a child of the age it is aimed at to know ( I do believe that there are certain ages that are right for the acquisition of certain knowlegde, usually the age they start asking questions about whatever)then the book should be left on the shelves. Children are ignorant not stupid and the only way you can combat ignorance is to let them learn. They are as able as any adult of telling the difference between fiction and truth ( more so than some, I don't know of any child sending a wedding present to soap characters who get married. In other words I am against the Nanny atitude that is spreading like a plague these days.

I think the problem with the books they want to withdraw was that the writer had been "grooming" children... so it was implied that the books were tainted by this.

But I agree, I think if the books are good enough to read they should be available.

"Children are ignorant, not stupid." I like that. Remembering for later.
