My 'little man' came and looked at the cooker. turned on the gas and lo there was gas. He gave it a good going over fixed the automatic lighting mechanism ( it hasn't worked on a couple of the gas rings for an age)and charged me £30. Not bad going for a 35 year old appliance.

He said he couldn't understand why the gas wouldn't come through for me, I guess it just wanted a break.

I've been out driving again, high speed roads I need the practice, any speed over 45 makes me nervous. I made it to Ebbw Vale shopping village and back with only a mild nervous breakdown and a box of chocs. from Thorntons as my reward.

Yay for the cooker (maybe it felt unappreciated) and for you driving on your own! I remember when I first learned to drive I used to get very nervous, especially I had to do a hill start. However in a few months you'll look back and realise you take it all in your stride and it's become automatic.
