I have definitely gone gaga.
Jan. 17th, 2008 08:35 pmI got a phone call from my little god daughter's Mother last night
You will see little is not the word I should use for her now. At 17 she is a grown up young lady, some of the time at least.
She is taking a NVQ in Animal care and hopes eventually to become a veterinary nurse or a zoo keeper, she hasn't made up her mind yet. This summer she has to do 14 days work experience in an approved animal care environment. She has decided, along with 3 friends to go to a wildlife refuge for animals that have been injured too badly to be released back into the wild, in South Africa. And this is the girl that told me that if the job she got was more than 2 buses away she wasn't going.
As result she needs a passport and J wanted to know if I would be willing to sign her application. So I said I would go down this afternoon and put my monica on the forms. I had it all planed out, I would wait in for the Curry people while doing a bit more tidying in the pantry. Then i would pop off to Blackwood to buy bread and a 12 inch ruler then I would head for Newport. All went well up to the moment I arrived in Blackwood. All car parks there are pay and display, I parked got my bag rootled around in it for my purse only to remember that it was sitting on my desk back home. By the time I got back and picked it up it was too late, so here I am breadless and still with out a ruler, hence my heading.
As it happens i can't sign her application, these days you have to have a current passport yourself to vouch for someone else. I've got a passport but it lapsed about a year ago so no go. Luckily a neighbour works for the prison service and that is an accepted employment category and she will do it. Not exactly a successful afternoon. Just because you have a current passport doesn't mean that you are kosher, after all they last 10 years and things were not as strict years ago.
Oh well I had a nice visit with the family and an other Chinese meal so it wasn't a wasted afternoon really.
