Local News isn't very local here
Aug. 7th, 2007 08:11 pmMy cousin and I went to see the Order of the Phoenix this afternoon and on the way back saw an awful lot of smoke less than a mile from where I am staying. Beth dropped me off and went back up to Chapel of Ease. Half an hour later she rang me to find out if I still had any power. Apparently the Major fire in Maindee had taken out a joinery factory, 15 houses and an electricity substation leaving 300 or so houses with out power. Apart from the smoke I knew nothing about it, Newport picks up Bristol's TV in this area. It was the first item on the Welsh news but not on the National (no one killed) nor the west country local. My friend Jenny who lives barely 100 yards from the fire is OK too, it's the other side of the railway line from her and the power outage does not cross the lines.
The film kind of disappointed us, so much had to be left out and ended up as simply a kids adventure film. Well shot and the special effects were good but superficial.

Glad to hear your friend is okay.
My hubby thought the movie was so-so. He wished they hadn't left out some stuff from the book.
