It started snowing in my part of the world at about 11.30 this morning, nothing bad in Newport where I work, it has it's own weather system.

However I got a call from my cousin, who works about half a mile from where we live, at about 1.30 to tell me to get home as soon as I could as they were having blizzard conditions.

My employers are not very sympathetic since they all live within Newport city boundaries but they did allow me to take a half days leave but I had to cover lunch break first. As a result I caught the last bus out of Newport heading my way. He was going to try to make it as far as Newbridge, the stop about a mile beyond mine, and he did make it as far as I needed as was heading up valley as I tried to get up my hill. The 45 min journey took an hour and a half. None the less I thanked him profusly and honestly for getting me home in horrendous conditions

Thank God for mobile phones. The BBC did put out snow warnings this morning but not for my area, I went to work in court shoes and there was 6ins of snow where I got off. A phonecall to my cousin, who had been sent home at 2.00pm, and she walked down the hill with a pair of wellies for me.

I am now sitting at my computer, huddled against the radiator looking out on to my garden which is a winter wonderland. My fir tree looks very Christmassy and the Cotoneaster is just a mound of snow.

It is no longer blizzard conditions but it is still snowing, if this keeps up all night they can whistle for me in work tomorrow.

I'm glad you got home OK eventually. Thinking of you in your Welsh Winter Wonderland.. All we have so far are a few flakes. Have you pointed the blizzard in my direction?

Can't say where it has gone to but it has left here. Temperature has dropped to below freezing so I don't think I will be getting to work on time tomorrow if at all. I am not risking breaking my neck walking down a 1 in 4 hill on frozen snow on the off chance the busses are running. I'll just stick my head outside the door at the times they should run and if I don't see one it's back to the radiator for me
