A short trip into the past
Feb. 13th, 2004 08:30 pmThanks to a 3 hour power cut I've just had a taste of my Grandparents life when they moved into this house in 1910 or there abouts.
Candle light and a fire ( gas in my case coal in theirs) no TV, Radio, or anything electrical. Candle light I have discovered is too dim to read by but I did manage to knit by touch. At least they had each other and the children to talk to, life is very boring with out modern distractions when you live alone.
I was on the phone to the power company complaining at the length of time they were taking in getting me back on when I realised I hadn't checked the trip switch, me bad it was off.
I did appologised profusely and at least the engineers hadn't turned up before I thought to check. Embarrassed wouldn't have been the word if they had discovered that was all that was wrong
At the moment this is entirely right
