A tale of friends and cats.
Dec. 4th, 2009 05:17 pmMy baby god daughter(the 19 year old) has finished her course on small animal care and is working full time at a local vet office. This vet has the reputation, well earned, of taking in waifs and strays and finding them a good home and about a 4 weeks ago small black and white kitten who had been found in the gutter in a road near the surgery was brought in. He was very weak, his eyes didn't seem to be working and he couldn't move his back legs. The vets had tried all their usual foster homes and all were full so they had reluctantly decided to put him to sleep when Laura piped up and said she would take him home and her Mum would take care of him to see if he would get better. So home he went and he is still there. He is tiny looking as if he shouldn't have left his mother yet but the vets put him about 12 weeks old. He is totally litter trained and eats any thing that is put before him. I went down for a late birthday meal with the family last night and met the baby, here he is.

His eyes look as if he doesn't have any colour in them just black and they don't react to changes in light level but as you can see from his photo he reacted very markedly to my flash and he can follow movement but he doesn't seem to focus. His back legs are beginning to move a little and his front legs are very mobile but he doesn't have the strength to support himself on them. He has the loudest meow of any cat or kitten I have ever heard. Janet has admitted to me that Ringo(he has large but thin rings of white hairs on his black coat)that if they can get him walking he is not going to another home he is staying with them but with three big cats in the household already he might not be able to cope and he would be welcome to come to me but I can see him being an up stairs cat rather than him leaving that house. These are the other cats involved in case you don't remember them.

Healing thoughts and prayers are asked for Ringo, my friends will be heart broken if he has to be put to sleep.
