Jul. 23rd, 2009 11:46 am Walking the dog Monday i noticed a Rowan tre with branches bending under the weight of the berries. We have an old wives saying that an abundance of berries means a bad winter as it's Mother Nature's way of keeping the birds fed. I prefer the saying that I heard somewhere east of Offa's Dike when I was a child. It was an old farmer talking to my father about the 'bad' spring we had had that year. He praised the spring because it would bring a good harvest with the saying 'Warm enough for bees wet enough for trees'. We were probably in Hereford some where as he was talking about his apple orchard. Any way I made sure I had my camera with me and got this shot.

But of course I took so many more there is a mass of fruit and seeds and a few nuts already for the birds this autumn. But I have created a collage of the pictures under the cut if you want to see them, so much easier than scrolling through miles of large pictures.
