Last two days out with Sue

I've given you a break from my photos as the last two days can be put on to one entry. Thursday we spengt a very lazy extremely hot summer day sitting by a picnic table on the edge of the Severn estuary at a tiny little hamlet called Swanbridge. It consists of half a dozen houses, a very popular Gastro pub,and a craravan park surrounding the old manor house which was converted to holiday flats 60 years ago.(You can see this house behind the round tower in the second picyure.

Here is the bit I couldn't get in


The pub is called the Captain's Wife as the original bulidings belonged to a sea captain whose wife kept watch from the tower rat the end to see his ship sailing up the channel to harbour in Cardiff.

That strip of land is Sully Island a very low lying island(only at high tide about 1oo yards off shore. The next two photos will show how low it is.

We stopped at Comiston Lakes on the way back. These are lakes formed when gravel was dug out and the holes left filled with water. the birds there are partly introduced, mostly the swans but others have been attracted in and tamed by people feeding them. The walk back from the cafe to the carpark was partly on board walks over the edge of the lakes which gave some strange shots.

And finally our final outing was to an are of Newport Called the Light house because the firsy light house guiding ships into Newport docks was build there. It's still there but has been turned into a boutique hotel .



The local pub is Called the Lighthouse too. but is far less picturesque.
. The only other signs of civilization is the Mobile home park by the pub
